Sheepskins and Kiwis

Our days in Napier were pretty good. The weather wasn't great, but fortunately there were things to do indoors, including a kiwi house! I got to see kiwis snuffling about, which was awesome. They are very cute and can be forgiven for thinking they are mammals. We also saw tuatara, which I have to say has added to my life greatly. It was hard to get pictures of the kiwis, since it was dark, they are nocturnal, and flash frightens them, but I got some pictures of brown furry blobs, which pretty much sums them up anyway.

We then toured Classic Sheepskins, which was quite terrifying but also provided us with the opportunity to buy cheap wool. I got some socks which have served me very well, considering it is FREEZING!! Also, I found out I suffer from Roundface.
On a side note, we have had pretty bad weather, but it thankfully is clearing for the next three days. The reason it is clearing, however, is because there is a front of air directly from Antarctica that is blowing over New Zealand. So yes, it is cold.

Yesterday morning we got up early and did a behind-the-scenes tour at Marineland, which was awesome because we got to feed and play with the dolphins and sea lions and it was ridiculously cheap. We then drove up to a lookout and got amazing views of Hawke's Bay, which I can't wait to share with you. Then it was nonstop driving through more beautiful countryside to Wairoa, which is where we are now.

We are planning on a hike in the Te Urewera wilderness, which is supposed to afford fantastic views of various lakes. Unfortunately, Barbora accidentally locked the keys in the trunk (or boot, as I must now learn to call it). Roadside assistance came with the car, so now we are just waiting for them to show up, then we will be on our way!
