Cradle Mountain

This is where I left off, I think. We woke up at 5:30 in the morning to go canoeing on the lake outside of the lodge. The water was very still and reflected the surrounding mountains and eucalypts almost perfectly. We didn’t see a platypus, though, which was a bit disappointing.

After breakfast we headed off to Cradle Mountain, one of the most famous peaks in Tassie. A group of the guys decided to climb the summit, and the rest of us opted for a guided hike around Dove Lake and through Twisted Lakes. This turned out to be a good thing, because the guys got to the peak and decided to get naked, because boys are dumb. We did get to hike our own peak, Hanson’s Peak, which was awesome because at one point we had to scramble up a vertical rock face using a chain. The views, of course, were awesome all around.

The peak conquered, we headed off around the lakes for an easy 6 km hike and ate overlooking the water.

All of us were exhausted after our hikes and were happy to reach Devonport that evening. The house we were staying in had great views of the river and a pool table downstairs. The night was a lot of fun and I loooove the people I'm with.
